Oboe, English Horn | Florida | Nu Deco Ensemble
Dr. Kendra Hawley has performed internationally as a chamber musician, opera, ballet, theater and orchestral player. She is Oboe and English Horn Soloist of Nu Deco Ensemble–Miami’s 21st century genre bending chamber orchestra; founding member of Tessellations Trio–with soprano Kimberly Soby and pianist Paul Schwartz this is the core ensemble of the Tesserae Collective, a chamber music collective dedicated to creating intimate and interactive musical experiences; and most recently she was appointed English Horn Soloist with Miami City Ballet. Kendra was previously Assistant Principal Oboe and English Horn Soloist with the Orquesta Filharmonica de Santiago, Chile. She has performed with other ensembles including: Orquesta Sinfónica de Chile, Orquesta Sinfonica de Concepción, Florida Grand Opera, Naples Philharmonic, Orlando Philharmonic, and Virginia Symphony Orchestra.
Dr. Hawley is a champion of new music and new imaginings of older works. A dedicated educator, Dr. Hawley is artist faculty for Nu Deco Nxt, Palm Beach Atlantic University, and Miami Music Project among several other Teaching Artist engagements.
Originally from North Carolina, she graduated from Interlochen Arts Academy, received her B.M. from Arizona State University, her M.M. from the College-Conservatory of Music at the University of Cincinnati, her Professional Performance Certificate at Lynn University, and her DMA at Stony Brook University. Her primary teachers include Pedro Díaz, Joseph Robinson, Mark Ostoich, Martin Schuring, Daniel Stolper and Petrea Warneck.
