Caitlin Thom is a harpist & private lesson instructor based in the DC/Maryland area. Ms. Thom is currently a doctoral student in harp performance at the University of Maryland (College Park). She recently completed her Master of Music degree at Baylor University in Waco, Texas. During her time in Waco, she performed as a member of the Waco Symphony Orchestra and taught a private harp studio.
During her undergraduate studies at Augustana College (Rock Island, Illinois), she held the position of principal harpist with the Knox-Galesburg Symphony Orchestra and took on a broad variety of other playing engagements, such as performing as a member of the David Eggar Orchestra with the rock band Foreigner on their 2018 Tour.
In addition to her college education, she spent three summers studying orchestral harp playing at the Pierre Monteux School. She was also selected to perform with the members of the US Air Force Band for their Collegiate Symposium in 2019.
As a teacher, Ms. Thom emphasizes a healthy mindset, effective practice habits, and proper technique in order to provide each student with the foundation they need for a lifetime of playing the harp.
